BOYS AND GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

WHAT IS CROSS COUNTRY?
-  Cross Country is a sport where a team of runners run from 1.2 - 2.5 miles on a course. The course could be on a path in the woods, road, around a field but the course is marked. The score is a team score of the top 5 runners. The runners are awarded the same amount of points as the place they came in (e.g. 1st place earns 1 point, 2nd place earns 2, etc...)
Cross Country will begin Tuesday, September 11, 2018. The athletes will meet after school in the gymnasium and practice will go until 4:30p.m.  The team will practice outside running the fields, road and track.
Practices: Every day after school until 4:30p.m.
WHAT IS NEEDED?
-A good pair of running shoes, practice clothes, sweatshirt and/or sweatpants, and a desire to run and improve times. Be prepared for cooler temperatures!

The school  will provide bus transportation to our home meets at Veterans Park (you must provide your own transportation from practices and home meets)and to and from away meets.  The bus will pick up our athletes at Wilson and drop them off at Wilson for away meets.  Only a parent of a child can transport their child from an away meet.  A uniform top will be issued - black shorts or pants should be worn with the issued track top. The athlete is responsible for the uniform top which will be returned at the end of the season.
